) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission
(CPSC) on Friday announced a voluntary recall of 12 million cadmium-tainted
glasses distributed by McDonald's.
The recall was initiated after cadmium was discovered on the painted design
of the "Shrek"-themed drinking glasses, the CPSC said.
The CPSC advised consumers to immediately stop using the glasses which had
been sold nationwide for about two dollars each.
McDonald's sold the 16-ounce glasses as part of a promotional campaign for
"Shrek Forever After," an animated comedy which debuted on May 21.

"Long-term exposure to cadmium can cause adverse health effects, " the CPSC
